The Staff

Left to Right:

Big Tuna, Tiasha (Emory University Liason), Jazz, Kate, Me, Mark, Brittany, Judson, Randall, Saida

you can't fight 'em

so, the tale of the speeding ticket.
i went to court, the change set court date,
i'll skip all the logistics of the routine, but a court man,
he said he was the ran the court,
took all the green tickets, the ones for mechanical charges, like windshields cracked,
and lights out and stuff, to do with your car and basically you can just show you've fixed it, or subsitute another car with a working lite or windshield, as long as it is from the same house hold,!!!
then there is also lack of registration, and ins, not in hand for a pull over,
that you can also show completed, or yes, substitute another ins. slip for anyother car
in the house or what ever,
and you have 5 months from the date of ticket to pay,
but 5$ /each month for any unpd bal,
then if you didnt' have your lisence with you or have one, get it,
show it,
but then the speeding tickets, are un resolvable to get out of,
this judge only lets go of emergency speeding with proof from a hosp,
and he doesnt' allow for a perfect , clean record,
and he doesn't allow for being destitute bc you have no right haveing a car if you cna't afford a ticket,
and if you do contest, you get an arranged appoint with the cop who ticketed you and the judge
and still wont' get out of it, no matter how fast, slow , or what ever,
so i pd,
the stories in more line were alot more interesting than mine,
and dotn ever give a cop cash bc they say they will not ticket you if you pay it right there on the side of the road, and not have to come back,
bc they pocket it and then still give the summons and then by the time you know about it
you have an arrest warrant out for you , for not going to court about it,
and no proof bc of the cash,
what does that tell you,
and dad pd, the camera ticket, bc they doubled it,
even though, jeff said, it wasn't legal bc it wans't served and only mailed,
so another scam,
corruption up the kazzo,
love, mom
grocery $ thsi week,
we're on omlets now until mon,
mom

On Heath Ledger

I had a conversation with my camp director at dinner today about The Dark Knight and Heath Ledger. As you may have heard, Heath Ledger reportedly became so into his character, that he became depressed and had to take prescription medication to cope. He died from an overdose of this medication. The Joker is an insane, sad, violent character, and Heath tried to become the role. My camp director, KC, has not seen the movie because she isn't comfortable watching something that led to a person's death, even if inadvertently.

Here is my argument. I think that Heath Ledger was a true actor. I don't know much about acting, but to me, acting is really about becoming the role. True acting requires sacrifice. Actors have to completely transform themselves into their characters. And few do. Heath, on the other hand, was an amazing actor. He became the Joker. I think he believed acting to be his life mission; he sacrificed himself to complete it. Our passions and purposes are not easy. Heath was ready to transcend what many consider important, life and happiness, to achieve what he believed to be of greater value, fulfilling his purpose. (Obviously I'm assuming a lot, but this is what I believe regardless). I find this admirable. The greatest respect we can give him is to appreciate what he found to be most important.

Another staff member sitting with us disagreed. He thinks that Heath was desperate to match the role. He did not find himself adequate to play the Joker. So he had to overcompensate to fit the part. I can see this side too, though admittedly I prefer not to.

Last point. Last night the kids were watching youtube videos were people either do stupid things or others do stupid things to unwilling people. All of the clips result in people becoming seriously injured or dying. And yet the purpose of the videos, and verified by the viewers' response, is humor. These kids cannot stop laughing. I think its sick. When I was telling KC my thoughts about Heath Ledger, she said that it was like the youtube videos, then, that maybe the participants in the videos felt the same way as Heath, that they were willing to put whatever specific goal they had before their bodily lives.

Well then if thats the case, I said, then I definitely have a personal bias where I find true acting to be a worthwhile life purpose and killing yourself to make people laugh either to be a pointless life mission or not a life mission at all, but a deranged psychosis.

Thoughts?

Kahshe

we had been watching these loons all week, and one day when it started raining they started swimming straight for the point, actually straight for jill, stopped for a while about 20 feet from her, then continued on to the cove where we load the sailboat and swam around there for awhile. it was special.

then later that night, or the next one, jill & i were canooing and we approached them out by the litte island and both parents were there and one of them started wailing a warning call, exremely loud and echoing all through the lake, high pitched, and totally amazing, like the highlight of the trip, you could see its beak quivering, we were very close, so it frightened us away and then followed us awhile to make sure we STAYED away.
notice the teddy-bear-like fluff on the chick.
this didn't come out as good as i wanted because the porch screen, but it's still pretty cool.
roxy was amazing. a perfect companion. she rockclimbed surprisingly well.

Alien Contact and Cover-Up

FORMER NASA astronaut and moon-walker Dr Edgar Mitchell - a veteran of the Apollo 14 mission - has stunningly claimed aliens exist. And he says extra-terrestrials have visited Earth on several occasions - but the alien contact has been repeatedly covered up by governments for six decades.

Dr Mitchell, 77, said during a radio interview that sources at the space agency who had had contact with aliens described the beings as 'little people who look strange to us.'

He said supposedly real-life ET's were similar to the traditional image of a small frame, large eyes and head.

Chillingly, he claimed our technology is "not nearly as sophisticated" as theirs and "had they been hostile", he warned "we would be been gone by now".

Dr Mitchell, along with with Apollo 14 commander Alan Shepard, holds the record for the longest ever moon walk, at nine hours and 17 minutes following their 1971 mission.

"I happen to have been privileged enough to be in on the fact that we've been visited on this planet and the UFO phenomena is real," Dr Mitchell said.

"It's been well covered up by all our governments for the last 60 years or so, but slowly it's leaked out and some of us have been privileged to have been briefed on some of it.

"I've been in military and intelligence circles, who know that beneath the surface of what has been public knowledge, yes - we have been visited. Reading the papers recently, it's been happening quite a bit."

Dr Mitchell, who has a Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautical engineering and a Doctor of Science degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics claimed Roswell was real and similar alien visits continue to be investigated.

He told the astonished Kerrang! radio host Nick Margerrison: "This is really starting to open up. I think we're headed for real disclosure and some serious organisations are moving in that direction."

Mr Margerrison said: "I thought I'd stumbled on some sort of astronaut humour but he was absolutely serious that aliens are definitely out there and there's no debating it."

Officials from NASA, however, were quick to play the comments down.

In a statement, a spokesman said: "NASA does not track UFOs. NASA is not involved in any sort of cover up about alien life on this planet or anywhere in the universe.

'Dr Mitchell is a great American, but we do not share his opinions on this issue.

-------------------------------

What have I been saying for a very long time now. I'm waiting for it to be finally disclosed, which probably won't have to 2013 or something, unless something drastic happens where it is ridiculously obvious.

Also, please reply to this message to let Fletcher and I know that our family still actually comes to this blog.
